Personalization
As a sleep consultant, my personal goal is to develop a sleep plan that meets the unique needs, parenting styles, and personalities of each family. I am extremely respectful and empathetic with regards to parental decisions related to co-sleeping, sleep training philosophies etc. As part of the consultation process, I make sure to fully understand the beliefs and needs of each family unit in order to create a plan that makes sense for them. This compassionate method allows parents to truly feel comfortable during the sleep training process, which I believe is a prerequisite for success.

I completed my PhD in Experimental Psychology at McGill University in Montreal where I was drawn to the importance of sleep for the emotional, physical and cognitive health of children. For my dissertation, I designed an individualized sleep promotion program to motivate teenagers to adopt earlier bedtimes. I conducted a randomized controlled trial to evaluate my program and found that it was successful in motivating adolescents to go to bed earlier. Following my PhD, I enrolled in the Family Sleep Institute Sleep consulting program to further specialize in child sleep. Between my expertise in the field of pediatric sleep and my on-going commitment to higher education as a Professor in Psychology at Concordia University, I am confident that I am well-equipped to help children get the sleep that they deserve!

I have never believed in "one size fits all" health programs. In fact, the novelty of my PhD work was that I recommended using motivational interviewing- a very personalized technqiue, to help teenagers become motivated to go to sleep earlier. Although offering personalized plans is more effortful, I believe that it is worth it because in the long run the results are more impactful and longer lasting. I bring my training and passion for 'personalization' to the sleep consulting field as I consider each and every family unit to be unique. I truly believe that it is the personal attention to detail that I give to each family that sets me apart and allows healthy sleep to become a reality.
